“OMG…Your Bald Spot Is Showing”

HeardonthePlayground.com saw this potential and offered moms free pages for them to blog and gave mother’s the opportunity to increase traffic on their blogs.

HeardonthePlayground is offering free URL’s to Mommy Bloggers combining two of their favorite things – talking about kids and expanding their blogs. For Mommy Bloggers looking for business and fun, HontheP has become the place to be seen. With an estimated 23 million Mommy Bloggers each with their own blog, it’s difficult to stand out. HontheP solves this problem by providing a national stage where Mommy Bloggers showcase their sense of humor and style with cute quotes and funny photos. Their URL’s show up for free below every post allowing HontheP viewers to click directly onto the Mommy Blogs.

HontheP offers Mommy Bloggers the perfect opportunity to share those hysterical, often embarrassing and sometimes enlightening kid moments while at the same time bringing attention to their blogs. The CEO of the site, Andrea Sherr, started HontheP based on the belief that everyone has amusing kid stories or funny kid pictures that should be shared and not just whispered about in school hallways or at family dinners.

As the site continues to grow, HontheP finds itself collaborating more and more with Mommy Bloggers in conventional ways like exchanging buttons or sponsoring contests. Yet Andrea Sherr found the task of identifying Mommy Bloggers with humor that complimented her site to be both overwhelming and frustrating due to the massive number Bloggers on the internet. In a light bulb moment, this CEO came up with the idea to partner with Mommy Bloggers by showcasing some of their best kid stories and photos in a concise and easy to read manner. Not only does this benefit parents looking to find new and entertaining Mommy Blogs, but it also rewards Bloggers who contribute content with greater visibility. As a result, the idea of free URL’s for Mommy Bloggers was recently implemented.

The successful partnership between HontheP and Mommy Bloggers is seen by the cute sayings and hilarious pictures posted by bloggers like FamilyandLifeinLasVegas.blogspot.com, TheHouseofBurks.com, SassySillySpunkyMomma.com, DivineSecretsofaDomesticDiva.com and JusKeepSmiling.com. One of the CEO’s favorite Mommy Blogger stories is about a Mom trying to check out at a grocery store: “My daughter pointed at a grocery display and yelled sh*t, sh*t. sh*t. I tried to ignore her and the looks of disgust from other customers, when my son came to the rescue yelling, If you keep saying Sh*t, Mommy’s gonna spank your Ass.”

Every picture tells a story, as well, and these Mommy Bloggers boldly go where many others fear to tread. The humorous pictures accompanied with funny captions would easily make any top ten funniest photos list. Whether it’s the baby bathing in the toilet, the infant showing off his muscles like the Terminator, or the girl trying to drink from a lawn sprinkler, you’ll find a funny kid picture that makes you laugh out loud.

HeardonthePlayground has become the place to see and be seen with the Mommy Blogger crowd. This makes sense since it’s the Mommy Bloggers who have the most to say about humorous kids. This may stem from Moms’ natural desire to laugh instead of cry. By giving back to these Mommy Bloggers with free URL’s, HeardonthePlayground creates a win-win situation that could only be topped in the Mommy world by the discovery of a chocolate that has zero calories or a robot that loves cleaning the house. With no scientific breakthroughs on the horizon, HeardonthePlayground believes it will continue to be the irresistible favorite of Mommy Bloggers for years to come.

A New Treatment for Baby’s Malformed Ears

August 15th, 2010

Our ears  aid us in sensing and gathering sounds. The ear also helps us to maintain balance. Aside from these basic functions, our ears also accentuates our facial features.

Camille Cash is not just a Houston cosmetic plastic surgeon, she’s also a mom. “When I think about the possibility that one of my children would have been born with ears that stick out or other abnormal ears, I wonder what I would have done because, until now, there was nothing other than tape–or waiting til they were older for an otoplasty to repair them. ” Since discovering the EarWell Infant Ear Conformer, she no longer worries about babies growing up with misshapen ears, subject to teasing on the schoolyard and the inevitable–and expensive–otoplasty at the age of 4 or older.

“Kids who have misshapen ears are teased at school,” Dr. Cash says. “They’re called names like Dumbo or Elf Ears, and it really hurts them. This kind of teasing directed at very young kids can damage their self-image for their entire lives.”

The EarWell Infant Ear Conformer is now available for Houston-area babies in either of Dr. Cash’s Houston locations. It’s non-invasive, so there’s no pain, scars, injections or anesthesia to worry about. Almost all health insurance programs, including Medicaid, pay for this.

There’s one caveat: Studies show that the best results are obtained when the babies are fitted with the conformer within the first three weeks of life. Says Dr. Cash, “When a baby is born, he or she has a great deal of estrogen in the system, from the mother. Over the first month or two after birth, that estrogen level declines. That means that the malleability of the ear cartilage will also decline. Studies have shown that the sooner the EarWell is applied, the more complete the results.”

The EarWell was created by a plastic surgeon in Dallas and underwent studies at Baylor. Those studies showed that 98% of babies’ ears were corrected if the EarWell was applied within the first three weeks of life.

“As a mom and a physician, I can’t imagine anything easier than the EarWell. It’s like a little soft cover for the baby’s ears–they don’t even notice it. It’s in place for six weeks and after that, 98% of babies will have beautiful, well-shaped ears,” says Dr. Cash.

For those interested in the EarWell for their baby, Dr. Cash can be reached in either her downtown St. Joseph Parkway or Willowbrook Methodist office by calling 713.571.0600.

Fashionable Babies Get Moms into Debt

August 15th, 2010

Fashionable moms = fashionable babies. If, fashionable mom = big debt, then fashionable moms + fashionable babies = very big debt?

Oh my, combining mathematical equations and fashion is quite confusing. Another confusing aspect about fashion is whether to get on the fashion wagon, to get off the fashion wagon or to remain on the fashion wagon.

Mothers are plagued with these options as well. Mom’s with new babies are spending like crazy to keep up with the poshest kid on their block. And then some. Going into debt to keep their kids fashionable, their diaper bags designer and their strollers trendy. Anyone who goes into debt to keep fashionable has their proiorities wrong, in my view.

New mommies should be cautious in their spending. Keep in mind that babies grow up very fast. It is not a good investment to buy expensive baby clothes as babies will all too quickly grow out of them within a few months.

If you are a fashion forward mom and would like your baby to be fashion forward too weigh up the pros and cons of buying expensive baby clothes and accessories before you max out your credit card and regret your spending spree when the bills start piling up.

Eggsploitation in the Infertility Industry

August 1st, 2010

To address infertility problems, scientists have come up with an ingenuous solution for infertile couples who want to have their own offspring without turning to adoption.

One of the more popular assisted reproductive technology procedures is egg donation. This procedure involves harvesting healthy eggs from women (egg donors) for purposes of assisted reproduction. Egg donors are usually healthy young women recruited through different forms of advertisement.

In these ads, egg donation is presented as a safe procedure that offers young women two benefits: the opportunity to help infertile couples and to earn some extra cash. Unfortunately, this is not the whole picture.

Eggsploitation, is a documentary released by The Center for Bioethics and Culture Network
